more gold medal socks?

Two years ago my elder daughter had an amazing year in her gymnastics competitions. She placed 2nd, 1st and 4th in her qualifiers and 2nd at the provincial championships. And why did she do so well? Because on the way to every competition I worked on a pair of socks for her that I nicknamed the Gold Medal Socks. I haven't knit a Gold Medal Sock since then and she hasn't done very well.

Superstitious? Me?

So now it's the younger daughter's turn. She's on her way to the Ontario Championships this weekend. I'm going to encourage her to root through my embarrassing collection of sock yarn this evening to pick out the yarn for a pair of Gold Medal Socks. Hey, I have a system and it's worked before.

In other sock knitting news, last night I found a DPN that I lost in my car a year and a half ago. I had searched high and low for that thing, cleaned out the car, vacuumed the floors. I didn't miss an inch. And then last night I reached down for the handle to recline my seat and grabbed the needle instead. Maybe the cosmos is telling me I should use that set for the Gold Medal Socks.

Nah, I'm not superstitious at all.
