I caved

I wasn't going to do the Halloween Mystery Shawl. It was a matter of common sense. I started the Anniversary shawl over the summer and then suffered a series of interruptions, starting with my father's unexpected death and ending - I hope - with a shoulder injury. Consequently I'm less than halfway through clue four. I've timed myself at approximately two rounds per hour, which leaves me with about 28 hours' worth of work left on that clue, followed by the edging. We won't discuss all the other partially finished shawls I have lying around. So obviously there's no time for the Halloween shawl, right?

But I like Halloween. And I love Goddess Knits patterns. I signed up. But! I thought. But! I will not order the recommended yarn. I will use budget-friendly Knit Picks Shadow and I'll skip the beads. It will be cheap and simple.

But I love the colours! And it's baby alpaca and silk and cashmere...how can I settle for budget-friendly? So I ordered it. The Knit Picks order is on its way as we speak, but I'm sure I'll find some use for it should I live long enough.

And now I need to find some beads. I'm going to check Michael's before going nuts online. I need to show some restraint here and I know there are oodles of beads at Michaels. It should be cheap and simple, right? Right.

Just to prove that I am capable of finishing things, here is my sister's scarf.

'Tis the Kata Felicity scarf from Mindful Knitting (you have no idea how difficult it is for me not to type "mindless knitting") done in the Bernat Bamboo I scored at my beloved Spinrite tent sale. The yarn is very heavy and very slippery, so I'm fully expecting the scarf to be twice its length and half its width after a couple of wearings.
